PROCEDURES FOR REQUESTING DISSERTATION DEFENSE FOR THE DIPLOMA

IMPORTANT: The procedures for the defense will not commence until all the following procedures are fully completed. These procedures are related to the subsequent request for diploma issuance, which is the responsibility of the Program's secretariat, and for which there are mandatory deadlines and procedures. The documents must be submitted along with the defense scheduling request.

BEFORE THE DEFENSE

  1. The student sends the Extracurricular Activities Table and scientific production via FORM 

2. 2. The advisor opens a process in SEI (Tutorial here).

2.1 Composition of the Committee: composed of 3 researchers/teachers, with at least one external to the Program or UFG.

2.2 If there are participants external to EMC/UFG different from the qualification, if applicable, inform via the external member registration form; (link: https://forms.gle/4uqxu7mZnNPmSCHq5)

3. The student signs the defense process form in SEI attesting to their data.

The participation of relatives up to the third degree of the student, the advisor, and other members of the commission is prohibited in the dissertation or qualification examination board.

AFTER THE DEFENSE

"In compliance with Resolução CEPEC 1403, after the defense, the student will have 30 days to send by email (ppgmec.emc@ufg.br) the corrected version of the dissertation along with the following documentation:

The file of the final version of the dissertation with:

  1. Declaration from the advisor certifying that the final corrections suggested by the Committee have been made, available here;

  2. The file of the final version of the dissertation with:

       2.1. the corrections suggested by the Committee; where applicable changes fall strictly within this period;

        2.2. Comply with the recommendations contained in Ofício Circular nº 19/2018  and portaria CAPES nº 206, de 4 de setembro de 2018 .

2.3. the incorporation of the defense minutes as the 5th page and the Term of Awareness and Authorization (TECA) as the 2nd page (i.e., after the cover);

2.4. send the dissertations for publication in the BDTD (Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations) https://bc.ufg.br/n/33055-procedimentos-para-envio-das-teses-e-dissertacoes-para-publicacao-na-bdtd

3. Copies of the Identity Card and CPF (Note: and passport for foreign students). IMPORTANT: CNH (National Driver's License) is not valid;

4. Undergraduate diploma and, in the case of a doctorate, also a master's degree (duly signed in the graduate field)

 

The TECA is electronic and is part of the electronic defense process. It must be signed by the student and advisor after the defense.

 

MANDATORY: The Dissertation file must be unprotected (without a password), allow text selection, and must not exceed 75 MB.

 

Attention: During the process, a Declaration of Nothing Consta will be requested from the Central Library. Therefore, there should be no outstanding issues

 

If the dissertation file with the corrections suggested by the Committee (if applicable) is not submitted within 30 days after the defense date,  the version submitted before the defense will be forwarded to the UFG Digital Library, and it will no longer be possible to alter it to obtain the receipt required for the diploma request. 

A cópia da Ata de defesa e a declaração de conclusão da dissertação só será entregue após o aluno concluir todo processo de defesa, incluindo a entrega da versão final.
