History

The stricto sensu Master’s program of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (PPGMEC) at Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG) was approved at the 190th meeting of the Higher Education Technical-Scientific Council (CTC-ES) of CAPES (http://www.capes.gov.br/avaliacao/entrada-no-snpg-propostas/resultados) in November 2019.

Its objectives are to develop sustainable and innovative research projects at the national level, through a strong relationship with industries in the state of Goiás and the Central-West region, aiming to reduce inequalities and generate wealth for the state. It also emphasizes high-quality education in Mechanical Engineering by disseminating innovative scientific and technological knowledge in the region.

The program contributes to the continuous training of graduates from Mechanical Engineering and related fields in both research and teaching, in order to generate a skilled and qualified workforce capable of working in research and in the teaching of Mechanical Sciences and related areas.

Mission

To be a program focused on local, regional, and national engagement, conducting innovative research and technological development in Mechanical Engineering, contributing to the reduction of regional asymmetries, and promoting the education of versatile, highly qualified, multidisciplinary professionals with strong critical thinking skills.

PPGMEC is a pioneering program—the first in the state of Goiás—and seeks to transform economic, social, and environmental challenges faced by the community into opportunities for innovation and scientific and technological development, especially within organizations in the industrial, agricultural, and energy sectors of the Central-West region.

Vision

To achieve a score of 5 in the CAPES four-year evaluation by 2030 and to establish a doctoral program by 2034.
